  February 2014

The river has been fishing quite well over the past week. As the weather has been predominantly overcast, the fish have been more active with GT’s, Tailor, Tarpon, Flathead and Jacks being caught around the Tewantin Stretch (in-front of the marina).

Early morning or late afternoon has been fishing best. Casting surface poppers like the Storm Chug Bugs and prawn imitation plastics at the surface feeding fish has been the go. Staff member Rhys got a decent Tarpon and Cody Carr caught a beast of a Mangrove Jack (pictured) on a gladiator prawn after casting at bust-ups in this area at night.

Also Ed caught a nice GT and several others on a Jackall Transam 95 in Killer PG (pink) colour. I had a fun morning session yesterday as well landing a nice Jack on a Berkley Powerbait in Pearl Watermelon colour. Caught him fishing close to and under the boat moorings in the Woods Bays. This overcast weather over the past couple of days has definitely fired up the fish!

Cheers,
Lane Hoffmann
