Bass

Everglades Wild Bass

I ducked out for a fish Sunday morning through I would check out the upper Noosa River for some bass.

everglades

It was a great morning up there catching and releasing 6 or so small bass

bass

and what I think was a Spangled Perch on Jackall Squirrel 67 and OSP Power Dunk.

The scenery and wildlife is worth the effort.

Cod

Mary River Cod

Quick report:

It's been a bit quiet for me fishing wise over the past 2 months with work and renovating the new fishing shack.

On the trips that I did get out fishing was patchy with a donut session which is the first in a long time, a couple of average sessions and a couple of very memorable trips.

Highlight would have to be catching and carefully releasing my first Mary river cod which was bi catch whilst chasing Bass in the Mary river on the new yak. My fishing buddy Peter Brooke also landed a cod on the same day.

The everglades were generally a bit quiet with many missed surface opportunities on Jacks and only a few tarpon and bream landed on both surface lures and small bibbed hard bodies.

There were Jacks between the lakes responding well to surface lures early morning before the big rain but I had a bad run and didn't stick any for a decent fight. As much as I love watching the surface strikes it would have been nice to land one. That's fishing!

After the rain I hit the Noosa Sound area for a quick afternoon session with the plan of chasing a few bream on some new lures I was sent to try out however ended up having a fun session on Gts to 40cm. Even though they weren't big fish they were great fun on light gear and fought way above the weight. I also landed a decent estuary cod on a vibe in woods bay which I called for a jack until about half way through the battle and I realised I had a sack of potatoes on the end of the line.

Bent rods tight lines, Carter
